5 Best Places To Visit In The Caribbean In 2021

Are you looking for a vacation destination? Are you looking for fun in the sun? Due to the covid-19 outbreak in 2020, the travel industry season took a major loss in revenue. Hotels were not booked, Air flights were canceled, Weddings were postponed, anniversaries were delayed, but in 2021 the travel industry is on a major rebound. Flights are being booked and people are traveling. Here are so many wonderful destinations in the Caribbean that people have voted to be some of the best vacation destinations on where to travel in 2021.

Number 1 - St Lucia

Known for its Majestic Piton Mountains, live volcanoes, refreshing waterfalls, spectacular hiking trails, and beautiful beaches. Saint Lucia is an island destination worth visiting. St Lucia is known not only for its beauty but its art. There is a list of galleries around the island and the St Lucia Jazz Festival is held every year with jazz artists from around the world visiting and performing. Local street parties and exclusive beautiful restaurants can be found in almost every town.

Stats: As of 2020 the population of Saint Lucia is 183,627, Saint Lucians are relatively well-off and the crime rates are extremely low in St Lucia. On my visit to Saint Lucia, I can say it was the safest I ever felt on an island. The Saint Lucian authorities are working very hard with the tourism industry to make sure and maintain a safe environment for all visitors and guests, but needless to say, muggings and thefts at hotels and holiday rentals do happen occasionally, as would any place you visit, but they are very rare. In St. Lucia, they speak 2 languages predominantly English and French creole so language will not be a barrier to communication.

If you are an adventure seeker, there are things to do in Saint Lucia that will take your breath away. From Ziplining, climbing the pitons, hiking mountains, bike riding, horseback riding, sightseeing cruises, snorkeling, exploring the island's active volcano there's a wide range of things to do. The pitons are Saint Lucia's twin towering Peaks and their trademark attractions for the island. The Gros Piton which means large piton is 798m High and the Petit Piton which means small piton is 750m High. They were formed by volcanic activity 300 thousand years ago and both pitons are considerably difficult to climb so take a guide. The best view of the pitons in Saint Lucia is the colorful fishing village of Soufriere. The fishing village of Soufriere was founded in 1745 and has a unique history. Its Fame is from the fact that Josephine the wife of emperor Napoleon Bonaparte was born here in 1763. On my visit, I can tell you the locals are friendly and willing to give you advice on where to eat, shop, and visit local attractions. Speaking of attractions, you will notice the beautiful architecture of the town and mini colorful buildings with filigreed balconies and tin roofs. Many wonderful attractions are surrounding Soufriere including beautiful hiking trails at The Tet Paul Nature Trail you can also visit Sulphur Springs Park and my favorite strolling through the Diamond Falls Botanical Garden.

Some hotels boast panoramic and beautiful views such as the adult-only Jade Mountain Resort and Ladera Resort. You will have breathtaking views of the pitons while enjoying a five-star resort.

You will not be disappointed with your vacation to st. Lucia. Flights usually run $154 one way and $452 round trip, based upon the economy booking. prices may vary.

There are many resorts to choose from in Saint Lucia. One of the most famous is SANDALS Grande St. Lucian: All-Inclusive Resort in Castries

One of the newest of the three Sandals resorts on St. Lucia, Sandals Grande is a 301-room, upscale, couples-only resort that's set on a peninsula adjacent to Pigeon Island, a historic national landmark. Its signature pool with a huge tower and swim-up bar is the center of the action, a place where young honeymooners mix and mingle. Three other (quieter) pool areas, a slew of water sports (including unlimited scuba), a beautiful spa, and 12 restaurants, including an authentic British Pub, help keep guests occupied. Club Level and Butler Level rooms are available for upgraded service. If you want to treat yourself you can book a VIP exclusive say in the William Jefferson Clinton Suite. During his term Bill Clinton (42nd President of the United States of America) and the first lady, Hillary Clinton stayed at this resort.

Fun fact:   Hollywood has been in love with St. Lucia for a while, movies that were filmed on the island was the original 1967  Doctor Dolittle with Rex Harrison to Romancing the Stone Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner And Superman 2 with Christopher Reeves and Margot Kidder.

Number 2. Saint Thomas

Discovered by Columbus, in 1493 this island is a jewel of the caribbean. In 1917, Saint Thomas was purchased (along with the rest of the Virgin Islands) by the United States for $25 million in gold. The land was divided into plantations and sugarcane production which became its primary economic activity for years. As a result, the economies of Saint Thomas and the neighboring islands of Saint John and Saint Croix became highly dependent on slave labor and the slave trade. In Saint Thomas, there are local museums dedicated to the history of sugar cane plantations and the slave trade and the ebolishment of salvery. If history is not your choice Saint Thomas has plenty of other attractions, there are plenty of opportunities to lounge on the beach, take a dip in the sea and enjoy water sport activities. Is shopping your thing? Saint Thomas boasts a bountiful duty-free shopping scene. Be prepared to time your shopping carefully, otherwise you will find yourself shopping at the same time cruise ships dock and let off hundreds of travelers. When I visited Saint Thomas, one of the things I did was take popular day cruises in Saint Thomas. There are several to choose from ranging in a variety of niches, from champagne cruises, romantic cruises, adventure snorkeling cruises and cocktail cruises. Among the many attractions to visit is the famous beaches such as Honeymoon Beach with great scenery and beautiful views you will enjoy yourself for hours. If you are a fan of Pirates, you can visit the Pirates Treasure Museum. You can tour the many treasures divers have discovered and the history of battles with pirates in the caribbean and tales of buried treasure. When walking on the beach you may want to occasionally look down. That rock you stepped on may be a diamond! If wildlife and nature is your desire, you can visit Phantasea Tropical Botanical Garden. The garden is full of beautiful blooming orchids, tropical flowers, fruit trees, lilies, palms, and more. You can relax in the calming serenity of nature under a palm tree as you view tropical birds and butterflies in the air. Magens Bay is a breathtaking bay along Saint Thomas north coast. It is ideal for swimming and snorkeling. It has restaurants and bars with all the amenities such as equipment rental and lifeguards. I wanted to mention Blackbeard’s Castle. It is one of St.Thomas's most famous historical sites, but at the time of writing this it is closed due to renovations.

One of the best resorts in Saint Thomas is the Frenchman's Reef & Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort, Saint Thomas.

Interesting Fact:

One of the most popular tourist attractions in Charlotte Amalie is a cylindrical stone fort known as Blackbeard’s Castle. Despite its name and local lore, there’s no evidence that Blackbeard, Edward Teach, ever used the structure. Danish soldiers built the fort in 1679 and called it Skytsborg Tower (“Sky Tower”)
